This training course is aimed at Data Analysts whose role involves analysis and design of conceptual and logical data models. The course covers two methods of conceptual data modelling, namely UML & CHEN ERD.

Conceptual data modelling includes the basics of normalisation to ensure sound data modelling design. In addition to the theoretical aspects participants will receive hands-on experience of creating conceptual & logical data models in Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect.

  • A look at the object browser and how models are structured using views and packages
  • Diagramming techniques
  • EA Options menu
  • EA Settings menu
  • How to search the model
  • Focus is on getting new users to a point where they are familiar with how to use the tool and where to find certain features; also trying to instill best practice early on such as using package diagrams to structure views and reuse of elements in the model.
